Yard work........uggghhh

Let me start this blog off by stressing how much I HATE yardwork. I have a black thumb and kill everything. Either I over water or underwater- but either way, I've wasted a lot of money on plants and flowers over the years.
Now let me say, that when we originally looked at our house their was about 10 inches of snow on the ground, and I asked our real estate agent what the flower beds looked like. She said they were in good shape and shouldn't be too much work! Well, she was wrong! In the front of the house, the previous owners decided to randomly put a bunch of gravel next to a retaining wall. And the flower bed that was up against the front of the house, had been completely over grown with weeds. Being that I am pregnant and it is the middle of the summer, there was no way in the world that I was going to get out in the heat and work on weeding this BIG mess. Thankfully, my dad a a college age guy that works with him, that was willing to do the work! While we went to the pool one afternoon, Tommy came and weeded, removed gravel, and got the two beds completely ready for plants. Now if I could only figure out what to plant!
Here is the before picture:(blogger is being a pain, and won't upload an after picture..grrr) Just imagine no weeds, grass and three peony bushes in the front. It's pretty or atleast looks better... trust me!

Preschool Promotion

This is after the ceremony, don't they look so innocent?!
Tonight we went to the twins preschool promotion ceremony. It was funny and bittersweet all at the same time. We(our whole family) has grown very close to Ms Tracy over the past year. The boys pray for her every night and when snow days or Christmas break happened, they asked about her daily.
Tonight the Tuesday/ Thursday morning and afternoon classes were combined, to sing a few songs and get an award/ certificate. MS Tracy went through kid by kid and said something special about each child and told a interesting fact or two about each kid. Lincoln said when he grows up he wants to drive racecars and when Daniel grows up he wants to change lightbulbs!
After the ceremony was over, we ate a couple of cookies, drank some punch and watch the craziness of about 20 kids chase each other in the gym.
The boys have learned so much over the past school year with Ms Tracy. Next year will be a little sad, since the twins will have only one of their classmates in class with them. We opted (mainly for my sanity) to enroll all three boys in Tues/Thursday morning classes again. Greyson is so excited to be included in on preschool next fall. HE can't wait to have Ms Tracy all to himself, while bubbas are next door in Ms Judy's room!

Busy busy weekend

Mother's Day weekend is always a jam packed weekend in our house. We get to celebrate the twins birthday's and mother's day all in one. ( We are changing it next year though....)
For their birthday this year the twins picked to have a superhero party with just family instead of having friends over to celebrate. We had a great Batman vs Superman marbled cake and opened presents with just family. We ate a quick lunch and then headed down to Branson at their requests to ride go karts!
I love go karts. I grew up riding them on every family vacation and actually had a couple of parties in Branson where we did this exact thing! Brandon on the other hand, doesn't really care for go karts. I tried and tried when we were dating to get him to like them, but no couldn't get him to really care for them. And since none of the boys had ever ridden a go kart, I didn't really know how this day was going to go.
As soon as we parked the car, the boys were screaming woo hoo!! They jumped out of their seats and ran into the building. We had to measure to make sure they were all tall enough and figure out who would ride with who. Lincoln and I went together on the first round, my dad and Greyson rode together, and Brandon's dad and Daniel rode together. While Lincoln was a little scared to go too fast, they all loved it so much, that we upgraded from the regular track, to the multi-teired "Rockin' Track". It was a three story track. This momma was a little scared letting her babies go in the faster cars, but they LOVED IT!

After leaving the HOT racetrack, my mom had to return something at a local outlet mall. This outlet mall also has a Coach purse store, which my mother in law really wanted to go in. So we stopped off for a few quick minutes of shopping. Brandon had gotten stung by a bee while on the go karts, so once I knew that my parents knew how to get back on the highway we headed back home. After a few minutes of resting, we loaded back into the car with Brandon's parents, and headed to dinner at a local mexican restaurant. After dinner we went home and played outside with some of the new toys the boys had gotten earlier in the day. The grown ups stayed up and watched a movie while the kiddo's went to bed.

The next morning, Jeff and Carol headed out early for their drive back to St Louis. And we headed to church. We did a simple lunch at McAlister's, and headed home for naps!!!It was so nice to relax. We had such a great weekend, but it becomes such a whirlwind trying to cram everything in. So next year we are celebrating on different weekends. That way I can can enjoy every minute, and not be so exhausted!
